Non-Canon Races

Several races present on Outpost Hope One are original. A brief description of each is provided for new players and those in need of a refresher.

Circaloid

Circaloids are spherical beings native to the Delta Quadrant (DQ) and were first encountered by the Federation during its early exploration of the DQ. They are perfectly spherical without any distinctive feature other than their colour. They have some shapeshifting abilities, though not as extensive as Changelings. They can sprout appendages by moving part of their mass into the shape of the required limb. They cannot, however, change colour, increase/decrease in mass. To move around they usually bounce or roll, though they have been known to float for short periods of time with some form of telekinesis. They can only float and not move other objects with their telekinesis. Circaloid speech is so incredibly fast that the Universal Translator (UT) cannot slow it down to average speed without too much lag between what is being said and what has been translated. That is why they seem to speak very fast and in a very high pitch tone. Their insides are made of the same substance that their 'skin' is so they cannot be 'popped' or bleed. They can be injured as any other being though. They are always happy and jovial people and cannot feel sad, angry or any negative emotion. They crave adventure and new exciting things to do. They also have a lot of energy to go around.

Daignault Williams Photonic

Daignault was the name given to the first engineering hologram by the Chief of Engineering on DFA Cromwell at the time. With scores of Daignaults running around, a numbering system was utilized to differentiate them for delegation of duties. In researching the problem of too many Daignaults, they found references to the old Terran empire of Britain using numbering for their army of Williams, which they had too many of. Williams was adopted as a 'last name'; DW.

Gatrubbian

The Gatrubbians are a humanoid race who originally resided in the Gatrubbe system. Their culture is probably best known for their devotion to their gods, the Writers, which they claim continually write the universe into existence. After several decades of working with sublight engines, the Gatrubbians had built up a system wide network of colonies. Further research brought about the invention of a zero point energy drive which allowed for faster than light travel. Armed with this new technology the Gatrubbian Space Command developed their first and only interstellar vessel, the GSC Sojourn. The ship launched with the intent of surveying nearby celestial bodies but was ultimately doomed to crash upon an icy world where it lay untouched for several years if not centuries. Meanwhile not long after the launch of the Sojourn, a rift within the government led to a cataclysmic civil war which ended when the use of thermonuclear weapons turned the once inhabitable world into a ball of molten rock. The outlying colonies and ships packed up and set out for the stars. Over the years the ships have acquired warp capability and have grown in number as the population continues to increase.

A short treatise on the Gatrubbian language is also available.

Himpanwei

A hominid species similar to the Terran chimpanzee. They stand 60 to 110 centimetres in height. They are dextrous and considered to have four hands (ie. hands on lower limbs rather than feet) and long limbs. They are highly social and, amongst themselves, organize into close-knit colonies.

Sullen

The Sullen are a race that was totally devastated by the Borg because they were found to be a danger to them and could not be assimilated.

The Sullen is not the name of their race but one of a dozen names given them by races that they have made contact with. They have also been called The Plague, The Destroyers....and more. They have accepted the Sullen or translations of it because it semi-defines their predicament.

The Sullen are humanoid that typically wear encounter suits on the rare occasion when they meet other races. In the beginning they did not, BUT their body chemistry exude enzymes that break down the linings of the esophageal tract and lungs of most races on contact. This is transmittable through breathing, bodily fluid contact, etc; Deterioration of an infected body will continue rapidly until the soft parts are almost entirely eaten unless a suitable quarantine field can be established around the infected. This caused the devastation of life on at least 3 worlds before the Sullen restricted themselves to being reclusive wanderers.

Their ships are nigh impenetrable to Starfleet Weapons.

Their motivation is survival. There are VERY VERY FEW of them left. The species is nearly extinct.

Their encounter suits are both defensive and offensive in nature. First, their own heads are very open and susceptible to invasion by some types of infection. They are generally no better or worse than most viral infections, but their have been deaths and considering what they've been witness to AND CAUSED they do not take chances.

Offensively, they use a pressurized attachment attached to pouches on either side of their waist to force their own biological contaminants during an active raid. The Sullen NEED to kill higher life forms to live and consume certain parts of them as food. They DO NOT WANT TO, but they have no choice.
